I love themed parties and plaid. Thus, our Mad About Plaid 30th Birthday Party.
Give. Me. All. The. Tartan. Plaid.
We invited our friends and family to celebrate our birthdays (my husband’s birthday is Christmas Eve…poor guy) on December 26th and the only requirement was to wear plaid!
My Dad, the comedian, didn’t comply with the plaid theme but was the hit of the party with this red, Christmas suit.
With the plaid theme, I incorporated a country infused menu with fried chicken sliders (with pickles), chili, cornbread and mac n’ cheese. And what’s a plaid party wihtout a plaid cake? Our cake was decorated by Chefanie Sheets and complimented by my favorite, funfetti cupcakes in these tartan plaid cupcake wrappers . Even our cupcakes, were theme compliant.
The night before the party (Christmas!!), we stayed up late finalizing a slide show we played at the party and we are glad we did. It was really neat to take a 30 year walk down memory lane with everyone (we showed them all from baby pictures to awkward middle school photos to some big adult accomplishments). It was a nice personal touch for the event, set to three songs: Taylor Swift ‘s “Never Grow Up”, Tim McGraw’s “Next Thirty Years” and Kenny Chesney’s “Don’t Blink”… I only cried a few tears (lies…).
Our hearts are so full after celebrating with some of the people that mean the most to us and each have impacted our 30 year journey. Our theme was plaid but the real theme was thanking the people that have made us who we are and walk with us through the good times and challenging times.
Here’s to the next 30!!
