Beyond fueling my obsession with shiplap and white farmhouses, Chip & Joanna Gaines have been an inspiration to me in the way they live their lives and handle their fame. I got the opportunity to meet them at the Scripps Network Upfront last week and they are absolutely just as genuine as they appear on their show. Sweet, humble and down to earth. It was a dream come true to meet and talk to them a little (particularly, telling Jo my boots had been worn to the Silos a year or so ago.).
What a day! I really enjoyed meeting them and continue to enjoy watching their shows, reading their book and trying to channel some of their talents. Jimmy and I aren’t anywhere close to their level of talent but when we first moved into our home we did try our hand at replicating this Chip & Jo Fixer Upper kitchen island.
With this inspiration and the help of my brother in law, we built the island for under $200. It turned out to be one of my favorite pieces and the center of our home. You see it featured here on the blog often because I love styling it and hosting around it.
Thanks Gaines family for bringing strong family values and wholesome TV back. You’re the real deal in my book! Now, to figure out a place for the new Magnolia Home shiplap wallpaper.
